The New Honda Portable Generator

The new Honda Portable Generators are extremely user friendly. They use the well-known Honda engines that run clean and feature environmentally friendly clean emissions that exceed all regulations. All Honda Generators meet or exceed all EPA (Environmental Protection Agency) and CARB (California Air Resource Board) standards. Honda Power Equipment offers a complete line of generators for commercial and consumer applications. Compact, fuel efficient Honda generator models provide smooth, clean power for recreation, construction, rental, emergency and home use.

You get high caliber electrical power from these new EU Series Honda Portable Generators that will power commercial or home equipment products. Even computers and the most sensitive electronics may run with the Honda EU Series and since they are portable, they can go anywhere. Ads on television show people taking them to uninhabited islands and setting up their own little paradise. Imagine what convenience it will offer you!

They come in many different options:

Super Quiet Generators - EU and EX Series Super Quiet generators represent the leading edge of portable power technology. Ranging from 1,000 to 5,500 watts, Honda Super Quiet generators are ideal for recreational and home back-up applications.

Deluxe Generators - EM Series Deluxe generators range from 3,800 to 6,500 watts and offer a wide variety of enhanced functions for home back-up and general purpose situations. Depending on the model, available features include simultaneous AC/DC use, fuel meter, switchable 120/240V, large fuel tank for extended run time and electric starting.

Industrial Generators - EB Series generators range from 3,000 to 10,500 watts of industrial strength power. Consistently ranked "#1" by the construction and rental industries, EB Series generators offer a variety of "must have" features (depending on model) like G.F.C.I./neutral bond, 120/240V operation, full frame protection, wheel transport and hanger kits and large fuel tanks.

Economy Generators - EN and EG Series generators range from 2,500 to 5,000 watts offering legendary Honda reliability with a "no frills" approach to your basic power needs.

The Honda Portable Generators have four stroke engines with eco throttling and a system to alert you when oil is low, so they are gas efficient. They are easily maintained and work on an automatic compression release (ACR). They have quiet mufflers and a noise dampening system to make them even quieter. It's like muffling the muffler.

The new Honda EU Series Portable Generator produces multiple phase high volt AC (alternating current), electronically converts that to DC (direct current), then changes that back to 120-volt ac power. This gives it the cleanest power with no spikes and drops.

A cutting edge addition to the new Honda Portable Generators is the microelectronic system. It is the high end for cleanliness and quality power and can run the most sensitive equipment. Spikes and power source fluctuations are reduced by the inverter circuitry, providing a safe operation for the newest electronic products like computers. The state-of-art components used in the new Honda Portable Generators is placed in microcircuits, making the generators lightweight and compact. They have reduced the size of most electronic components to allow the whole unit to be no bigger than the engine.

The Honda EU Series Generator uses a new eco throttle that is load dependent and maintains its engine speed and output power at the most efficient levels automatically. You get lower fuel consumption, decreased noise and decreased exhaust emission from the generator.

Honda has been making small gasoline engines for many years and are known for their dependability and durability. Honda Portable Generators have become top of the line examples of engineering for the home user. They are quiet, lightweight and energy efficient. You get an extremely great product for just a little more money. When other manufacturers catch up with Honda technology, competitive pricing will probably bring the cost down some. Until that happens, these are probably the best products on the market for small size portable generators.

The Latest In Home Generators

Home generators provide electricity for a short duration of time during power shortages or outages. They can be used to run house lights and, if of sufficient capacity, can run necessary appliances such as air conditioners, refrigerators, furnaces, heaters, televisions and radios.

Home generators come in two ways, either portable or stationery (or standby) generators. When the power goes out, these small generators can be used to keep lights and selected appliances running until normal power returns. Portable generators come in differing sizes with capacities ranging from 1 kilowatt to 100 kilowatts. They can be run on either diesel, gasoline, propane or natural gas with gasoline being the least expensive.

Choosing the size, and whether to go with portable or stationery generator, is really up to you. There are several factors to consider. Do you want it to run the entire house or just a few appliances in an outage? To determine size, you'll need to add up all the wattage requirements for each of the things you want to power with it. Some appliances with compressors (like refrigerators) have a higher starting wattage rating that must be used. Once the total wattage has been determined, look over the generators with a capacity larger then the total that you need. If you choose smaller generator than you need, it could cause the generator to shut down. If some of the appliances are 240 volt, the generator must have that capacity to cover that as well. Home generators rated at 5KW start at around $600.

You should never connect a portable generator to the home wiring system due to electrical hazard. Any extension cords used should meet recommendations for electrical capacity. Too much wattage on an extension cord can cause a fire. Cords should not be placed under rugs or carpet so no one trips on them. If the generator has multiple outlets, the load should be balanced as evenly as possible between them. A portable generator must always stay outside the house due to carbon monoxide in their exhaust. Generators should be allowed to cool before refueling to prevent fire hazard.

Stationery home generators must be installed by a professional or licensed electrical contractor. These generators are connected to the home wiring system with an automatic transfer switch. An automatic power monitoring system recognizes any power disruption and immediately starts the generator. When normal power is restored the monitor turns the generator off. This is a very cool feature, wouldn't you agree?

The primary fuel for this type of generator is natural gas and can be hooked into the home's natural gas line (eliminating the need for refueling). Other models can run on LP gas or diesel. Stationery generators in the range of 8KW to 17KW are large enough to run an average houses lights, computers, kitchen appliances, medical equipment and heat or air equipment. These generators should be contained in a ventilated structure due to the heat and smoke they produce. Depending on the model of generator, the price could range from $2,000 to $10,000.

To power any electronic equipment, make sure the generator provides 60 hertz power.
